About Seiko
In 1877, at the age of 18, Kintaro Hattori set up business repairing the Western-style clocks that were becoming increasingly popular in Japan. If the watch is repaired or serviced by anyone other than Seiko, the warranty becomes void.

After reading various stories about this watch, I looked hard at buying one.
Why the cult following?
Could it be that good?
Well, my only advice? Buy one. For this price, you simply cannot get a more interesting and quality timepiece. The orange face is nice & bright. The lume is outstanding. The day/date readout is clear. THe stainless finish is great. EVen the band feels nice & well made, something I did not expect from a 0 watch.
Plus, when you run into another watch-geek, they will know exactly what you have. It's like wearing your IWC without the risk of banging it up doing housework.

Great robust watch
I received this watch as a 16th birthday present awhile back. I came to amazon for the Seiko MONSTER rubber dive strap and thought I'd write a review.
The watch is great, thick, large, but not obnoxious. Heavy, but not too heavy. It keeps good time, gains a few minutes a month. I shake the watch a couple times a week, have never had it stop. I like the day and date, both easy to read. The time is easily visible day or night.
The bracelet is a tough solid-link chain. Each link is slightly curved to conform to your wrist. It is the most comforable watch bracelet I have ever worn, (one that wasn't rubber), and it doesn't slip around on your wrist. It also has a dive expansion, great for the real divers out there. The only reason I am replacing the stainless bracelet is because I prefer the weight and feel of rubber straps.
The watch itself is also incredibly durable. It has survived quite a few ski falls on the icy slopes found in the midwest. Can really take what you throw at it. I wear it all day, all night, at the gym, shoveling snow, doing yard work, no problem.
Seiko Orange Monster
I've had the Orange Monster for just over a month, and I have no complaints. This is a large watch, so you might want to reconsider if you have a small wrist. Yes, it is a manly watch. The quality is excellent, and can be used for diving or casual dress. Something that many might not know is that the band has an built in extender for easy transition between normal wear and wearing over a wetsuit. I highly recommend this bold watch.
My favorite watch!
I LOVE this watch. I was a bit worried about it being too big since my wrists are on the smaller side. I have the rubber band which could be a bit shorter but fits fine. The watch itself is large but perfectly balanced and fits great. Took a few days to get used to the weight but now I feel "naked" when I wear a smaller watch. I get compliments on it all the time. I have not been "diving" in the watch but have swam with it in the ocean and have had no problems with it whatsoever. If you are on the fence about buying this watch then just GO FOR IT! You won't regret it.
New Owner of Seiko Orange Monster!
Ever since I read Clive Cussler Dirk-Pitt series books, I dreamed about a watch similar to Pitt's Doxa. I got the better one few days ago as Seiko OM! Bought this watch after reading lots of reviews on Amazon and other websites. It is really a amazing watch. It is heavy but not much that you become uncomfortable. Big but does not look out of place. I have been using it for 4 days now. It might run bit slow or fast however did not notice anything yet. Keeps good time. Looks & feels good. I highly recommend Seiko OM to anyone looking into buying a similar watch. AG.

For the price it's terific
Only had it a couple weeks but so far its terrific. Had alot of 35mm slides to scan. Did a great job. Scanned regular photos also and it seems to give the result I wanted.
Takes some time at high very resolution (2400 and up) for the slides but considering what I paid it is well worth the wait. It's very fast at a resolution of 300. Have not been able to start working on the scanned photos in photoshop which will give me much more info on the details of the scan.
The software is pretty good but nothing to write home about. Not as intuitive as it could be.
I would definitely recommend this scanner from what I have seen so far.
Maybe a good scanner, but wasn't what I wanted
Well, I had wanted a scanner that scanned 8x11 negative films, and I thought I had found one, but it only scans a strip about 4 inches wide. It would have been easier if they would post a picture of the top scanning area. So the only one I can find that does this is 600 bux. Ugh.
Easy scan of negatives
I purchased this scanner to fulfil my New Years' resolution to digitalize all my photographs & negatives. This scanner serves both purposes well. I unpacked the equipment and loaded the software on my computer. Within 30 minutes I was loading negative strips into the cartridge and scanning them. Viola. It was that easy. I like that I can load as many as 12 negatives at a time. I also like that I get a preview of the negatives and can select which ones I actually want to scan and save. This saves time because it takes about one minute(ish) per negative to scan. After scanning I have the opportunity to modify, adjust, or change the digital picture file or save it. Saving the files is easy too. You can use the generic name the program provides or change the name. With two labradors supervising my project, I have discovered that a soft cloth and a can of air is helpful to keep hair out of the negative cartridge. I have only scanned one photo (am concentrating on the negatives right now) but it seems very easy too. For someone like me who has multimedia and wants to organize it in digital files, this piece of equipment is the answer.
An Excellent Choice
I made my decision to purchase this scanner based on Consumer Report magazines' recommendation. I have a good 3 in 1 , but this CanoScan outpreforms it by a mile!!! I don't think anyone will regret this purchase.

its a pretty good camera...but
I bought this camera for a client and i tried it out first,it takes great pictures when the flash is on,if off its sort of blurry but the picture is really good when the flash works,i`d still recommend it and the price is not bad too..
Exceellent digital for all different events!
I purchase this Nikon due to a friend of my daughter's(age 14), had it dropped at my daughter's bday party, and the girls responsible were able to chip in to replace....and though feeling their lumps about this.....Amazon affordable price made it workable, and positive teachable moment. The young girl who received the new camera loves it better than the original camera(Canon), due to more features and easability. So, thank you Amazon for being there in the moment!!!

Big bang for the buck
Bought this camera because Fantasea had a custom underwater case for it and I was heading to Grand Cayman
The unit takes excellent pictures out of the water and good pictures in it-Deeper you go the bluer they get - You need a red filter for some balance (or a /5000 pro model with an arm load of lighting gear) - Next year we will have the filter
For those complaining about out of focus, READS THE BOOK and use AUTO rather then EASY Auto

This is an excellent knife
It hasn't completely replaced my 10" chef's knife for some things, but for thin slicing vegetables and general use (slicing, not heavy chopping) this is the first knife I reach for. The very thin blade gives great control. I'm a stickler for sharp tools, and this is the sharpest knife our of the box I've seen.

We noticed several chefs on the Food Network using these hollow ground knives, so after researching the difference between a regular knife and a hollow ground knife, we thought we'd try one. It was AMAZING! Food doesn't stick to the knife when slicing! We want to get another one!
Those Fools! They knew better than to craft this blade from the space craft wreckage.
MAD! THEY ALL MUST HAVE BEEN MAD! I warned them to stay away from the wreckage, to not touch it and especially not craft a 7 inch hollow ground santoku knife. BUT DID THEY LISTEN? NOOOOOOO!
And now the world trembles as this blade slices its way across countless kitchens. When you think about it, it was the perfect plan really. I wouldn't be surprised if we played into the Aliens hands perfectly.
Crash a spacecraft off the Japanese coast. When the Japanese begin to investigate the wreckage, they note that the metal is amazingly strong and light and would make the perfect kitchen chefs blade. THE FOOLS! They should have known better!
Sure, this blade is easy to control, well balanced, extremely sharp and cleans up easily with minimal work. BUT ITS ALL A TRICK! All the owners of this blade can tell you the same thing. THEY CUT THEMSELVES AT LEAST ONCE WHILE USING THIS BLADE! Why is that you think? Sure, it could be that this is a high end blade and we all don't have much experience using superior cutting products and didn't realize how crappy our previous blades were. That sounds logical enough.
BUT ITS NOT THAT EASY! You see, we have been contaminated now. Even as I type this, I feel strange surges of power radiating from the cut on my thumb I got last night when I used this blade to cut open the bag of pizza rolls.
My evidence? Shun. Most Americans say it phonetically, cha-un. But its not cha-un, its sch-un. As in moon. shun. Moon. SHUN. MOON. MOON PEOPLE MADE THIS BLADE AND ARE PREPARING TO INVADE! Those who have cut themselves will be the unwilling Moon Warriors.

Shun knife
I have used many different brands of high-quality knives during the past 60 years. This is hands-down the finest knife I have ever used. It holds its ultra-sharp edge for a long time.
Not a good knife, a great knife
This is the second one I've bought. The first was for my wife as a gift. She loves to cook (lucky me) and has been using hand-me-down Chicago Cutlery for years. Previously, I bought her a Henckels paring knife. This knife is incredible. We are actually cautious with it because the blade is so sharp. Feels great in your hand, weighty but not too heavy. Most times you don't even need the serrated paring knife because this will do it for you. In the future I would definitely buy another Shun. My mother called us shortly after Christmas raving about the knife (she too is a cook). Great product and a wonderful purchase.
